Our goals will be met by educating the general public on the importance of spring elections when typically only 10% to 20% of registered voters bother to vote.
Equally important is the fact that very few people know what the office of the superintendent of the Department of Public Instruction is, what it does and how many tax dollars flow through that agency.
Your donations are important right now to allow us to file all the required paperwork to submit to State and Federal agencies for 501.(C)(3) , incorporation and Charitable Organization registration just to name a few. We also have substantial printing costs to get our message out and we are traveling across the state to speak to interested groups. WEB site design and development costs are also significant. We are grateful for whatever size donation you can make. Membership fees are important and also help to defray costs.
Join WINNER in our efforts to make a difference in our education system. We believe it starts with educating the public about the importance of the DPI position and shedding some light on how this effects the future of education.
Become a volunteer today and begin making a difference for tomorrow!
A we scan Facebook, community calendars, shows, conventions, festivals, church services, service organizations, parades, fairs, senior centers , we find the list is endless and we can’t cover them all without your help in identifying activities in your community that would allow us get to know you better. Please keep us informed about your community activities. If you need a speaker for your local service organizations, keep us in mind.
Because our WI Department of Public Instruction operates under the radar screen most of the time and has more taxpayer dollars flowing through it than any other state agency, it’s important to make sure we shine the light of transparency on it. Therefore, we will include budget, salaries, job descriptions and other important agency statistics that will keep voters and taxpayers informed as to where their tax dollars are being spent.
As people send us their stories, we will research them and put the most newsworthy items here. Other communities may have similar stories. We can fight excessive regulations, government overreach and violations of our rights if we are aware of others who are experiencing similar situations.
We need a change in direction at DPI to repeal Common Core National Standards. Local control of education cannot survive under Common Core, and we can’t rid ourselves of Common Core without a change at the top of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI). WINNER will educate the electorate as to the importance of the spring non-partisan elections when the DPI Superintendent is elected every four years and the power DPI has in determining the education of our children and how DPI sets the agenda regardless of the legislature’s intent or the governor’s plan. The key is the role of the Superintendent of DPI and the Constitutional power that position holds. Every person truly interested in the best education of our children should be voting in the February primary (if necessary) and April 2017 elections for the candidate that places the utmost importance in keeping Wisconsin a local control state and will vow to repeal Common Core and replace it with a standard beyond “common”.
